ARTIST OF THE MONTH: Georgie Webster

Back to blog

Hi Georgie! What inspires your work as an artist?
I love colour and the way its use impacts an image or mood, bringing the subject to life.  I like to experiment and build layers so the paintings change as you move closer or further away.

When exploring colour in my ongoing animal series I became fascinated with how my paint palettes evolved and the beauty of them in their own right.  I have since played with this idea by turning some into limited runs of Giclee Prints.  I now use canvas instead of a palette resulting in two works of art evolving simultaneously as one yet being almost entirely different.

What medium do you like working with best, and why?
I usually work in Acrylics as I love the versatility of them to be used watered down or thickly to build depth and layers.

How long have you been an artist for?
I have been creating my entire life but it has only been in the last two years that I have started my journey into becoming an artist.

What do you like best about having your work with us at SOTA?
I know at SOTA you take your art as seriously as your steak so it is a huge honour to have 3 of my paintings hanging with you!

And our most important question...how do you like your steak?!
Medium rare.
